[00:00:00] You are listening to episode 256 of the Peaceful Mind Podcast.
Welcome to the Peaceful Mind Podcast, a place for creating the peace of mind you need to be the best mom you were created by God to be. If you want to bring more balance, more joy, and more peace to your motherhood, this is the place for you. I'm your host, Certified Life Coach at Catholic Mom, Danielle Thienel.
In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, let's get started.
Hello everyone and Happy New Year. Welcome back to another year of the podcast. I, we're about a week in when this is released. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Maybe kids are getting ready to go back to school, or maybe they have already and you are just had a little start to your New Year's resolutions.
I'm just glad you're here. I'm glad you're here for yet another episode called, happy, healthy, and [00:01:00] holy in the new year. So for those of you who are new to me, I want to let you know that this is kind of something I've done with the exception of one year as a little bit of tradition here on the podcast.
I first released an episode called happy, healthy, and holy in the new year back in, well, maybe it was 2020. I'm trying to think, when did I start this podcast? But it needless to say, it's number 22 the first time I released one, the second time was number 74 of the podcast. And it was called happy, healthy, and holy in the new year 2.0. It was like the next version. And then I did yet another one that I called 3.0 and you can find that in number 151. And then it's the year I skipped. I felt like 3.0 was kind of enough and I didn't do one last year in the new year. And then here we are in 2025 and I'm feel very drawn and [00:02:00] compelled to release another Happy, Healthy, and Holy in the New Year.
And I'm going to tell you in a minute why, because there is definitely a significance, but I really do want to urge you to go back and listen to the other ones because they're all different. I remember when I made the 2.0, I talked about a different perspective of being happy, healthy, and holy in the new year.
So it's not the repeat content. It's different. And it's whatever I was thinking and feeling that about the subject of becoming more happy and healthier and more holy in the new year at the time. So there's three other episodes plus today's that you will find yourself here we are in the new year that I know will help and benefit you.
So again, number 22, number 74, number 151. And I will put those in the show notes for a direct link, but you can always just scroll on your podcast [00:03:00] app or you can always go to my website. Click the podcast button at the top and it'll take you there put you at the page and then you can just find those episode numbers.
But I'm really excited that if you're someone who takes this new year and dives into all four of these perspective of happy, healthy, and holy in the new year. And now I want to tell you why I am doing this one again. And it is because I am releasing and already have, so if this is going to be news to you, there's already a week for you to go back and catch up on, or you just start from today and continue on the new year, but very similar to if I know many of you are familiar with the Bible in a year.
Well, I am releasing the podcast, Happy, Healthy, and Holy for Busy Moms and it's a daily devotional and it's being released as a podcast. So I am someone who uses and has used for the last [00:04:00] several years, a daily devotional. When I'm doing my prayer time, my quiet time, my stillness, I have really been blessed by having something that is already curated for me in a short, concise way that each day, whatever day it is of the year, I can look up and go to that day and it helps me connect with God.
And again, as always, I'm trying to look for things that, that help us connect and, and, and want to go to prayer. And sometimes we don't have a lot of time, right mamas. So daily devotionals have been something that has at least been able to have something that is just quick and powerful.
And I have had the seed planted in my heart for a while to have my own daily devotional, especially [00:05:00] because I've created so much content over the last five years and I know that not everyone has seen or heard or, or read this material.
And so coming up with a different way to get it out there. And I've done three books already and I kind of know how to do it. So, and of course I have this podcast and I know how to do that. So I have decided to create my own daily devotional. And yes, you will be able to purchase it in that like hard copy book form.
But I also love podcasts, obviously. And I love, there's some that I listen to that example, Bible in a Year, The Catechism in a Year. And I love that, it is curated and so I decided to take the book and to take my daily devotional and also provide it in podcast form.
So I'm taking the opportunity on the podcast today. [00:06:00] I'm going to talk here in a minute about making this your happiest, healthiest, and holiest year to come. But I wanted to make the announcement that you can, if you're obviously listening to this on podcast, you have access and you can go look up happy, healthy, and holy. You can look up maybe by my name, Danielle and I have it for busy Catholic moms, I think the way that I put it in maybe daily devotional for Catholic moms, hopefully it pops up with happy, healthy, and holy, if you go look at it.
And then Go ahead and follow, and each day, and even if you're listening to this podcast at a different time of year, you get to just pick up at whatever day that it's in, and then also know if you're someone like me who likes having a book, maybe part of your you know, prayer right next to your Bible, journal, something like that, where you can at least know that this is something that is [00:07:00] geared towards busy moms, In it, you will find that it will have a scripture, there'll be a reflection, and you will have a prayer, and I also provide you with a positive thought for the day that you can carry with you.
So I'm so excited about it. I'm so proud of it. I, again, having thought about it for so long, I just love when it's like birthed and it's like out in the world. And so I'm excited at this time to have been able to create it for this time of, of year to get started. But again, you can pick it up at any time throughout the year to listen or to read.
So, I want to take the rest of this episode, besides the announcement, to just really have you think about this new year. It's a great time for being intentional, for taking control of your day to day and [00:08:00] destiny and really kind of contemplate. We take, we evaluate the year before and contemplate going forward.
That's what's important last year is over and so it's important to then redirect your mind on what it is that you want to experience or have or accomplish or give this year and I love to give you the parameters of what would it be in my life if I was setting out to have the happiest, healthiest, happiest, and holiest year yet.
So that is really the purpose of today's episode is to guide your mind into this contemplation. What would make me happy this year? What would make me more healthy this year? And what would. Bring my holiness to a whole nother level this year. Maybe this means you're getting out [00:09:00] a notebook and you're putting three columns and you're taking five, 10 minutes to brainstorm.
Maybe you think I'm good. I am healthy. I'm regularly handling, you know, all my health and I feel good about that, but I want to concentrate on. Okay, well then let's spend our time and energy evaluating that, and I do want you to see that we don't want to wait around for something to happen in our life that's, that we think then we'll be happy.
I want you to be proactive, knowing that we are all the creators of our own happiness. It is up to us to seek, to learn, to contemplate, to go mining for a way to think and our views and our perspective about our lives and to create things that we will [00:10:00] then say, this makes me happier. This brings me happiness.
The proactive part is what I want to underscore. So that is why this episode I'm asking you to be proactive. If you were proactive in making plans, making a decision. About yourself becoming happier, healthier, and holier in this new year, what would that look like? Where could you start? And so another way to kind of, you know, just kind of get these juices flowing, I want you to think like under happy.
I want you to reflect on what brings you true joy. And maybe some of the things are temporary pleasure things, temporary happy, that's okay. But I also want you to also think about what is not just temporary, something that's maybe more lasting contentment. So what activities make you feel most like yourself and joyous?
What relationships need [00:11:00] nurturing so that you can access thoughts about it that bring you more joy. What simple pleasures have you been putting aside? And so those are kind of some of the things that I want you to just come up with ideas so that you can have your like happy plan for 2025. For the category of healthy, And I do know that right when this when this podcast comes out, I will have had a couple meetings or just gotten started on my new program, 10% Healthier.
So I'm so excited about this. And this is personally one that I'm focusing on in 2025. So this is where you want to think about your physical and mental and emotional wellbeing, right? For your health and your spiritual wellbeing. But we're kind of focus on that in the holy part, right?
So in this, in this section how's your sleep? How's your nutrition? How's your movement, right? We want to remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. And when we care for them, it is a [00:12:00] form of worship, right? So in order to make progress, we want to get more clear on the individual goals we have, getting more healthier. This is what I'm going to be working with directly with my clients in the 10% Healthier Program.
But I want you to contemplate that for yourself. Is this the year that you lessen your desire for sweets? Is this the year you like research and start to understand understand a little bit more about something that's going on in your body, right? Maybe how a certain organ works, right? Maybe you want to learn how to lower your glucose levels or create stronger bones.
Like, I'm not sure, but it's going to be individual for all of us. Is it that you think that becoming more healthy this year would be drinking water? Is it the movement part? Do you need to up your exercise game? I know that one thing for me. I'm working [00:13:00] on building stronger muscles having more water and also stretching.
Yes. So, January of last year, I sit there and think of why I'm so grateful. Last year, January was a really tough month for me and I am including, part of that was I tore my hamstring. And one of the things that I deduced of what created that was I was exercising, but had lack of stretching. So that is now part of this, you know, recuperating and getting it stronger.
But now I have such a desire to become more healthy. And one of my things is to stretch more. So again, I'm just kind of talking and asking some questions just to get you to think. To get you to hone in on what being healthier in 2025 would look for you.
And then there's the holy peace, right? This is where we're considering our spiritual life. When do you feel [00:14:00] closest to God? What practices help you grow in your faith? Right? Maybe it's daily mass. Maybe you want to up the times you've gone to confession this upcoming year. Maybe you want to add praying the rosary at some point. We have spiritual habits that you'd like to develop. If you're not right now, feeling like you are engaged enough in God's Word, what could that look like?
If you make that one of your focuses to become holier this year. I obviously don't just think that you should just do this. I also offer what I think is some practical ways to help. And in this case, what I said at the beginning about offering this daily devotional, I know that if this is a habit that you wanted to develop, it would increase it at the end of the year.
If you tuned in to the new podcast or you got the book and you read them. We're not saying perfection like every day, but if you went into these daily [00:15:00] devotionals and again, said the prayer and had a little reflection and carried with you the positive thought that I provide, I know that at the end of 2025, you will be able to say that you or have a holier life.
So I'm so excited to be able to support you. in that way. So as always, the key I want to focus in a lot of the work that I do is to not be overwhelmed by it all. Not to say I have to be happier and healthier and holier, right? Or I have to do all of these things this year. We want to be able to see that just one small achievable action is a win, right?
Maybe it's 10 minutes of reading that give you joy. Maybe it's a daily walk and that's what makes you healthier. What about five minutes of morning prayer? These small steps when you take them faithfully, they lead to lasting change. So if you want 2025 to be [00:16:00] happier and healthier and holier for you, it first starts with getting it all out and evaluating and answering some of the questions I've proposed here on the episode.
And then again, it's, it's nice to have the brainstorm of it all, but you don't need to do it all. You need to just say what sounds doable for me. What sounds fun? What, what sounds like at the end of the year, if I did all of that or did that one thing that I could say, yes, I put the effort and accomplished being happier, healthier, or holier.
All three of these areas interconnect. Right? When we're physically healthy, we have more energy, and maybe then we are able to pray more, right? Maybe when we're, we're spiritually nourished, then we become more patient moms, and then we have more interactions that definitely make us more genuinely [00:17:00] happy.
They're all intertwined. So even if you take one and you focus on that, it's going to have benefits for the to other areas. So again, I really urge you to take a moment like to get into action on what you're hearing from me today and write down maybe just three simple commitments, one in each area, put them somewhere visible, maybe on your bathroom mirror or by your coffee maker.
Share them with a friend who you who can encourage you and hold you accountable. When you coach with me, you are, we are definitely getting a result of being happier, healthier, and holier in your life. So if, if you want that built in accountability from a life coach, then definitely reach out and jump on a call with me as always that the way to connect with me in that way will be in the show notes.
And so as we enter 2025, I, I want to tell you [00:18:00] that it makes me so happy to know that you're there and listening. That I wish you tremendous health and that the way to have more peace and joy in your life that is the most sustainable is when we decide to become whole, as holy as we can in each of these days with the stage of motherhood you're in.
I want to remind you that that in different stages, it is easier being perfectionism, but being a perfectionist, again, I must remind you is not the goal and that even if you do this some of the time of the year, or you make some progress in these areas. It is so worth it, these faithful steps taken with great love, love for yourself and how you feel and the love that when us moms pay attention to [00:19:00] what makes us happier and healthier and holier, that this overflows to our family.
And so I want you to take these steps with great love for yourself and for them, just as St. Therese taught us, right? As always, let me know. Let me know what you're going to have your focus to become happier this year. What, what healthy goal do you have? What do you think is going to, Be your focus to become holier and reach out.
I'd love to hear back from you. I love to hear what these episodes stirred up for you. And it's just that extra step of letting me know will solidify it more in your kind of brain and in your body, this commitment to having the happiest, healthiest, and holiest year yet. And again, I want to encourage you to listen to the other happy, healthy, and holy podcasts that I've released before.
And, [00:20:00] may they bless you. May they open your mind to possibilities and give you motivation and inspiration. And then also, I'm so pleased to be able to offer you the paperback version, too, of a daily devotional that I'm calling Happy, Healthy, and Holy, as most things are. They're all for my busy moms.
